Prep time 15 minutes
Baking time 35 minutes
Ready in 1 hour
Yields 16 brownie squares
Ingredients
- 250 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 30 grams unsweetened chocolate bar
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Peanut Butter Glaze
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter of your choice
- 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- Pinch of salt
Procedure
- Grease an 8x8x2 pan with butter. Line with wax paper or greaseproof paper for baking. Set aside.
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Fire up the stove and adjust the flame to the lowest setting. In a heavy skillet or saucepan, mix in semi-sweet chocolate chips, unsweetened chocolate bar, butter, and brown sugar. Mix until all the chocolate chips are completely melted. Transfer to a mixing bowl and cool slightly.
- Add remaining ingredients and mix until incorporated. Pour into prepared 8x8x2 pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes. To see if it’s done, insert tester in the middle. If you see crumbs attached to the tester, it’s perfect. If it’s still runny or looks like batter, return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
- Allow to cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove brownies from the pan without cutting into squares.
For the Peanut Butter Glaze
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, sugar, and milk. With an electric hand mixer, beat on on low or medium speed until all ingredients are combined. Add salt.
- Continue to mix for at least 1-2 more minutes until mixture is smooth and looks like a glaze.
- Pour onto cooled brownies. Wait for the glaze to set and cut brownies into squares.
- Serve and enjoy!
Money Tips
If you wish to cut down the time and money on the ingredients of making the brownie base, you can just use your favorite fudgey brownie mix and follow package directions accordingly. Keep in mind though, that brownies from scratch still taste way better than the packaged ones!
