Just keep in mind that this a spicy one – if you have kids that don’t like spicy food, you can just cut out the spices all together and saute the prawns with the remaining ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 kilo tiger prawns
  • 1 tablespoon Szechuan pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
    1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • salt, to taste lemon juice

Procedure

  1. Heat a wok over low heat. Add butter and let it brown lightly. Add garlic and sauté just until fragrant, being careful not to burn the butter and garlic.
  2. Increase heat to high and add prawns. Season with Szechuan pepper, sugar, five-spice powder, and salt. Cook prawns quickly, just until they curl and turn pinkish orange. Turn off heat and drizzle lemon juice all over. Transfer to a platter and serve hot.
