Bacon Wrapped Bratwurst Bites

Bacon Wrapped Bratwurst

People love throwing BBQ parties and this might just be the perfect appetizer while waiting for your meat to get cooked.

Also, this recipe can be made for BBQ parties as well as finger food. Perfect for potlucks or for when your friends come over. You can have a movie marathon for you and your friends next time you hang out at home and have these to munch on. Spending time with friends doesn’t mean you always have to go out to have a good time – you can be perfectly comfortable and enjoy each other’s company at home too. Now onto the recipe.

Prep time 10 minutes
Cooking time 45 minutes
Ready in 1 hour 55 minutes
Serves 6

INGREDIENTS

4 pieces bratwurst
3 (12 ounces) cans light beer
5 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 slices bacon, cut in half

PROCEDURE

1. Poke bratwurst several times with a small fork, and place into a saucepan with the beer. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer, and allow to cool to room temperature.
2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and place a wire rack on top.
3. Toss the brown sugar and cayenne pepper together in a large bowl and set aside. Cut each bratwurst into three pieces, wrap each piece with a half strip of bacon, and secure with a toothpick. Toss the bratwurst with the cayenne mixture to coat, then place onto the prepared baking sheet.
4. Bake in preheated oven until the bacon is brown and crisp, 25 to 35 minutes.
5. Serve and enjoy!

Quick Tip

If you and your family aren’t into spicy food, you can cut out the cayenne pepper in half so that your kids can also enjoy this. A bit hesitant to give these to your kids because of the beer? You can substitute it for rootbeer instead.
