Classic Homemade Burger Recipe

Homemade Burger

Summer is only halfway done and what’s a good way to spend weekends with the family but fire up the grill and make homemade hamburgers?

This just might be the juiciest hamburger you’ll ever make. Gone are those days of you making dry and lackluster burgers. The recipe is versatile when it comes to adjusting the spices. If you’re not fond of the spices in this recipe, you can easily change or add those that you’d like to suit your taste.

Prep time 15 minutes
Cooking time 10 minutes
Serves 8

INGREDIENTS
For the Patty:
2 pounds ground beef
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
3 tablespoons evaporated milk
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced

For the buns:
8 hamburger buns
Lettuce
Tomatoes, sliced
Onions, sliced
Pickles
Mayonnaise
Ketchup
Cheese slices

PROCEDURE
1. Preheat grill for high heat.
2. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, egg, olive oil, bread crumbs, evaporated milk, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, and garlic using your hands.
3. Form the mixture into 8 hamburger patties.
4. Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill patties 5 minutes per side, or until well done.
5. Assemble the hamburger: Slice burger buns in half, spread mayonnaise on top and bottom of the buns, put the burger patty on the bottom portion then layer in the cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Squeeze in some ketchup before putting the top portion of the bun.

6. Serve and enjoy!

Quick tip: You can also use 1 tablespoon of olive oil and Worcestershire sauce per pound of ground beef if you wish to double or even triple the yield if you are hosting a BBQ party. Do not choose lean ground beef only – remember that the higher the fat, the results will also be a juicy burger.
