Net Worth of “French Montana”

Karim Kharbough performs under the name “French Montana.” It’s a nod to the rapper’s French roots and the popular character from the film Scarface, Tony Montana.

The net worth of French Montana is $8 million. While he launched his music career in 2002, French Montana didn’t get his first big break until 2009. However, that opportunity was short-lived, and his career ultimately didn’t take off until 2013.

French Montana’s Early Career

As a child, French Montana enjoyed both rapping and playing soccer. But, it wasn’t until 2002 that he began taking major strides toward getting his music career off the ground.

He released a mix-tapes series under the “Cocaine City” label, helping to get his music out there.

In 2009, French Montana scored his first big break. He was signed to the “Konvict Muzik” label, securing his first major contract. However, it didn’t result in anything lucrative, and the deal was abandoned after just two years.

French Montana then signed with Bad Boy Records, the brainchild of Diddy. Later, that arrangement became a joint deal between Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and Maybach Music.

French Montana’s Studio Albums

The joint deal led to the creation of French Montana’s debut album, Excuse my French, which released in May 2013. It featured a range of guest appearances, including Diddy, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.

Excuse my French had mixed reviews, but still started off in the number four spot on the US Billboard 200. Approximately 56,000 copies were sold in the first week alone. During 2013, record sales resulted in an estimated payday of $1.14 million and continued to provide him with income, though not in the same amounts.

While Excuse my French wasn’t a runaway success, it performed well enough for the studio to release a second album, Jungle Rules, in July 2017. It reached the number three spot and received favorable reviews.

The success of one of the album’s singles, “Unforgettable” (featuring Swae Lee), helped it achieve success well beyond his debut release.

In October 2017, Jungle Rules was certified gold, indicating it had crossed the 500,000 album-equivalent sales threshold.

While precise numbers about his earnings from Jungle Rules are scarce, he was able to donate $100,000 to go toward the construction of a new health center in Uganda.

Television Appearances and Net Worth of French Montana

Along with his studio success, French Montana has also spent some time on the small screen. He was featured as himself on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons. He also had appearances on Wild ‘N Out and Love & Hip Hop: New York.

In 2016, he played Vaughn on the popular music industry-oriented drama Empire.

French Montana still has the potential to make more from his music career and may continue to make television appearances, as the option arises. This means that the $8 million net worth of French Montana could certainly climb throughout 2018 and beyond.
