Happy Remembrance Day

Happy Remembrance Day everyone. Brian and I are taking a holiday today and tomorrow, so instead of the usual Monday post, here are a selection of Remembrance Day events around Canada.

In my own beautiful, rainy British Columbia:

Vancouver – Remembrance Day Ceremony Lighting the Torch Jack Poole Plaza: Come and see the Olympic Cauldron being relit at 8am sharp.

Vancouver – Remembrance Day Ceremony Victory Square Vancouver: This is the largest ceremony in Vancouver and includes a parade.

Vancouver – University of British Columbia Remembrance Day Ceremony: UBC is holding a public ceremony in the War Memorial Gym, beginning at 10am. The service includes light refreshments, readings and a choir.

Calgary – Remembrance Day at Battalion Park Ceremony

Calgary – The Military Museums‘ Remembrance Day Service

Edmonton – Beverly Cenotaph Remembrance Service

Edmonton – Alberta Aviation Museum Remembrance Day Ceremony

Winnipeg – Western Canada Aviation Museum Remembrance Day Exhibit

Toronto – several Remembrance Day events in and around the city

Hamilton – Veterans Parade

Ottawa – National Ceremony at the War Memorial on Elgin Street

Do you guys like in Vancouver? I LOOOOOVVVVEEE it there. I traveled there once a vacation about ten years ago and I cannot wait to go back. I think all of Canada is pretty awesome actually. Have a great holiday!

Thanks for bringing attention to this ! My brother is a veteran, and although I always supported Remembrance Day, it has become increasingly important to me to find ways to support and thank our veterans! That’s neat they re-lit the Olympic cauldron.

Enjoy your days off! I was supposed to have today off to finish my hunting trip but things didn’t go as planned. I think it all worked out the best though as I have A TON of stuff to get done!

Unfortunately I had to work, If I didn’t have to, I would have spent the day at the Military museum in Calgary. They had a ceremony in the morning, followed by a tour of the museum if you give a donation of any value.

By the way CF, that is a beautiful pic of a field of poppies.
