Ways to Earn Extra Money (To Pay Your Bills) In One Hour

road-people-street-smartphoneMany of us have found ourselves in a situation where we would love to have some extra money ASAP. Even though I tend to stick to a budget and live on less than I earn, that doesn’t mean I’m not faced with extra and unexpected expenses every month.

Many of those expenses aren’t emergencies so I don’t want to use my emergency savings to cover them. If you can relate, it’s important to realize that there are some easy and quick legitimate ways to make extra money so you can pay your bills and cover non-necessity expenses.

It doesn’t have to be this huge hassle either. You can make extra money by dedicating as little as an hour of your time.

Here are a few ways to do it.

Write An Article

You don’t have to be a successful journalist to earn money writing – especially if you choose to write online. Content is a huge part of the internet phenomenon and millions of people who own websites are looking for quality online articles covering a wide variety of topics.

I write online for a living because I love it so much and it pays well. But, if you need money fast, you can write an article online and earn enough money to pay a bill. If you’re writing a blog post or similar content on a topic you are educated on, it should take you an hour on average to produce the content.

What I love about freelance writing is that you can set your own rates based on your needs and experience. So if you need to earn $75, $100 or more for the article, you can find someone who’s willing to pay you that much.

To find gigs fast, you can look on job boards like ProBlogger, Upwork, and Freelance Writing Gigs. You can even set up a profile on Fiverr and offer your services. If you’re willing to provide a quick turnaround time for your work, you can negotiate for more pay.

Also, remember that freelancers have to pay taxes on their income.

Sell Something

The next way you can earn extra money to pay your bills in just an hour involves selling old unwanted items from your home. Odds are, you have something laying around that you no longer want or need. Whether it’s old clothes, shoes, kid’s toys, a broken cell phone, books, kitchenware, etc. see if you can cash it in by selling it.

You can have a yard sale or sell the item to a resale store. Or you can even sell items quickly online by posting a listing to Amazon and/or eBay. The Facebook Marketplace is another great way to sell your items locally online.

It only takes a few, minutes to take photos of your item(s) and post a listing with a detailed description online.

Drive For Uber

If you’re over the age of 21 and have a car I’d highly recommend becoming an Uber or Lyft driver if you need to make money quickly and have limited time. A few weeks ago, a family friend got laid off and it was devastating for him since his entire income disappeared overnight.

I recommended that he start driving for Uber or Lyft to ease the financial burden until he got another job. Driving for Uber is also a great side hustle too. My husband has been doing it for over a year and it’s helped me pay off his auto loan early.

You can check out the requirements to become a driver on both separate websites for Uber and Lyft. Drivers tend to earn an average of $25/hr or more depending on the day. What I also love about Uber is that you get paid weekly.

Complete Tasks With TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit is one of the best apps to use to earn money by simply doing small tasks for other people in your local area. You can do things like handyman work, yard work, assemble furniture, life heavy items, etc.

Again, these are quick tasks you can do so you don’t have to dedicate a ton of time and energy in order to earn some extra money. While some tasks may take longer than an hour to complete, other tasks will be shorter and you have the freedom to choose what work you take on.

Take Surveys Online

Taking surveys online generally isn’t a scam but there are some scam companies out there. Some of the best survey sites include Opinion Outpost, Vindale Research, Survey Junkie, and Swagbucks. Taking surveys online is a flexible way to make extra money because you can take surveys before work, during your daily commute, during your lunch break, while you’re watching T.V., etc.

Taking surveys probably won’t provide you with a ton of money, but it’s quick work and can help you supplement a small bill or cheap monthly expense like your phone bill, gym membership, or even a restaurant meal.

Don’t underestimate your ability to earn extra money without dedicating tons of hours and effort toward a side hustle. If you only have an hour or two per week to spare and still want to earn more money, consider doing some of these things and don’t be afraid to try out one-off gigs so you can cover all your expenses without having to rely on emergency savings or a credit card.

Have you ever done any of these things to earn extra money?
