Updates: March 17 – 23

There’s something to be said for spring. This week marked the beginning of the season, which in Vancouver means blustery winds and near freezing temperatures  which will eventually lead to mild, sunny and pleasant weather. I am particularly looking forward to this spring because it will be easier for me to get active again. In November, I pulled my hamstring playing soccer – that put me out for almost two months. Then, as I was getting ready to come back, I tweaked my knee again and decided to rest it up for the rest of the season. Then I dislocated my toe.

Spring, the season of fresh starts, will be my fresh start getting active and playing sport again. Today I’m headed out to play some tennis and in a month and a half I’ll start up with summer ice hockey (yeah, I know…oxymoron? Not in Vancouver).

What about the rest of you? Has spring come in full force or are you still dealing with freak snowstorms and cold weather?

Here’s some of my favourite posts from the week.

  • I appreciate good writing, and the fact that L Bee and the Money Tree is a professional writer shows in the quality of her work. Wondering why your blog sucks? Check out her post.
  • I also appreciated Frugal Portland’s post on evaluating what success means on the internet. There are so many PF blogs in existence, it’s hard not to compare sometimes. But, like her, I am thankful for the great people I’ve met and network that we’ve built.
  • If you’re looking to start up a blog, Modest Money came out with a great resource on starting a blog.
  • Freedom Thirty Five isn’t just into silver, he also talks about his experience buying gold.
  • Planting our Pennies asks whether they should buy a physical CD or stream the music for free. I’ve recently discovered Rdio, a music streaming site. They offer a limited time free period and very low monthly rates. I’ll probably invest the $5 per month when they stop giving it to me for free.
  • Because no PF roundup would be complete without a cute kitten photo, Plunged in Debt explains her furry money pit.

Thanks to everyone who included us this week:
