Updates: October 14 – 21

There seems to be a football theme working its way through the PF weekly updates the last few weeks. Work Save Live visited his alma mater to catch some college football last week and Finance Fox headed south of the border to catch some Michigan State action. Last night, we teamed up with Modest Money and watched the CFL’s BC Lions clinch first place in the division. You might argue that even college football in the states is more exciting than the CFL, but I’ve been a lifelong fan. How can you go wrong with a league that boasts team names like the  Edmonton Eskimos or Montreal Alouettes? Doens’t that just scream Canada? Before you write the CFL off as a backwater league, keep in mind BC Place (below) boasts the second largest jumbo tron in North America, behind only Cowboy Stadium in Dallas. I know CF and I will be there for the playoffs as we defend our Grey Cup title!

Here’s some good reading material for the weekend in case you’re not into football:

  • It’s easy to live cheaply when you’re a student, especially with the many student deals that are offered!  Femme Frugality points out some great ones in her blog post  this week.
  • I’ve worked for small company and large ones, and while the pay and benefits of big companies reign supreme, I do enjoy the environment of a small company.  Young Adult Money discusses some of the advantages of each.
  • It wouldn’t be right not to include some reference to the presidential debateMo Money Mo Houses gives her thoughts, from a Canadian perspective!
  • Add Vodka asks Is Entrepreneurship Dying? Under a tougher economy, funding is more difficult but does it lead to less creativity?

Thanks to everyone who included us this week!
